I’m already looking for an alternative supplier ….

It’s summertime, the most beautiful time of year.

The days are longer, you go on holiday, take leisurely walks in the mountains, eat ice cream,

swim in the swimming pool.

I love this time of year and I wish it would never end …

But there’s a problem!

Working during the month of August can be difficult.

[space]

Suppliers are closed and finding supplies of materials is a big issue.

All structured companies cannot close completely for the month of August. There are several reasons for not being closed; in fact work cannot be stopped entirely as maintenance will be needed.

Therefore, whether you produce or undertake maintenance you need your suppliers to be open.

I, like you, have a company to keep going; I cannot and do not want to close for the month of August.

Oggi ho ricevuto una mail da un fornitore: “siamo chiusi dal 8 Agosto al 29 Agosto”. Chiama questo numero 333123456 solo per problemi URGENTI!”

Io sto già cercando un fornitore alternativo….

Siamo in estate, il periodo più bello dell’anno.

I giorni sono più lunghi, si va al mare, si possono fare belle passeggiate in alta montagna, si mangia gelato, si fanno bagni in piscina.

E’ il periodo che preferisco dell’anno. Vorrei non finisse mai…

Ma c’è un problema!

Ad Agosto lavorare diventa difficile.

[space]

I fornitori chiudono e reperire il materiale un grosso problema.

Tutte le aziende strutturate non possono chiudere completamente ad Agosto. I motivi sono diversi per non poter chiudere; di fatto non si può fermare la produzione e se la si ferma bisogna fare manutenzione.

Quindi che tu produca o che tu faccia manutenzione hai bisogno che i tuoi fornitori siano aperti.

Io come te ho un azienda da mandare avanti; non posso e non voglio chiudere il mese di Agosto.

Mi fa arrabbiare e mi mette in difficoltà ogni fornitore che per 3-4 settimana chiude inesorabilmente.

Very true, but there is a problem!

When you work with the philosophy of things, it will be the least of your interests.

If you want to increase your margins, the machine must win: it has to do a better cycle time, it has to use tools better, in one word, it has to earn for you.

Not all machines win against men, mine always win… but when the pieces are heavy or large it is even easier to win.

But lets proceed by degrees.

Tutto vero, ma c’è un problema!

Quando lavori la filosofia delle cose è l’ultimo dei tuoi interessi.

Se vuoi incrementare i tuoi margini, la macchina deve vincere: deve fare un tempo ciclo migliore, deve usare meglio gli utensili; in una parola, ti deve far guadagnare.

Non tutte le macchine vincono contro gli uomini, Le mie vincono sempre…ma quando i pezzi sono pesanti o grandi vincono ancora più facilmente.

It all looked so easy and yet I risked a lot.

A few months ago a client called me to discuss a new machine.

He showed me a filter body. A fairly simple piece, deburred through blanking. In our sector we define that piece as wonderful…. Some of my friends would say “a piece that speaks!”

But there is a problem!

Unfortunately this time I was underestimating the problem.

I took the piece in my hand and right on cue, I didn’t see the trap.

The client told me that only 2 inside the piece crossing wholes should be deburred. He told me that through blanking it was impossible to ensure that no burr ran down.

Simple, far too simple!

[space]

Sembrava tutto così facile eppure ho rischiato grosso.

Qualche mese fa un cliente mi chiama per valutare insieme una nuova macchina.

Mi fa vedere un corpo filtro. Un pezzo abbastanza semplice, sbavato tramite trancia ovunque.

Un pezzo che noi del settore chiameremmo bellissimo…qualche mio amico direbbe “un pezzo che parla!”

Ma c’è un problema!

Purtroppo questa volta stavo sottovalutando il problema.

Prendo in mano questo pezzo e li su due piedi, non vedo le insidie.

Il cliente mi dice che ci sono da sbavare solo 2 fori che all’interno del pezzo si incrociano. Mi dice che di trancia non è possibile garantire che non ci sia bava cadente.

Semplice, troppo semplice!
