The Breaker press-side shear is Trebi’s advanced solution for cutting vacuum channel branches before trimming, directly at the press side.
The press-side shear is used directly at the press side to reduce the size of the cast piece.
This simplifies the trimming die and makes the entire die-casting cell more reliable.
The advantage of this press-side shear is the absence of a hydraulic power unit.
The Trebi press-side shear is easy to install and operate. Installation is performed directly by the customer, without the intervention of Trebi technicians.

The 1-hour integration refers to the mechanical installation and initial electrical connection of the Trebi press-side shear. It is realistic due to the compact design and absence of an external hydraulic unit. The total time for complete interfacing and I/O handshake with the existing press PLC is typically 4-5 hours depending on the complexity of the host system.

The integrated Siemens PLC manages only the internal functions of the shear. Interfacing with the press PLC occurs through a simple and robust exchange of standard I/O signals (input/output), making the Trebi press-side shear compatible with any brand of press and extractor robot.

No. Our engineering has ensured that the force of 48 kN and cutting capacity remain constant in any orientation. The mounting flexibility of the Trebi press-side shear is designed to fit the available space in the cell, while maintenance remains accessible regardless of its position.

The Breaker 2.0 press-side shear is usually installed on a fixed support within the cell, it is not a wrist tool for the robot. It is the casting, manipulated by the extractor robot, that is brought to the shear. The extractor robot only needs to handle the cast piece, not the shear.

The capacity of 240 mm² (equivalent to a circle with a diameter of about 17.5 mm) is the maximum guaranteed capacity. We test the Breaker press-side shear with standard aluminum alloys. There is also a version with increased capacity.

The pneumo-hydraulic cycle ensures an extremely fast cutting action. The typical cycle time (approach, cut, release) of the Trebi press-side shear is less than 2 seconds.

The main benefit is the reduction of the casting footprint to be processed, allowing you to use a much more compact and economical trimming die (and related mold), especially on large castings. Although the reduction in cost and force depends on the geometry, space optimization is often very important. Robotic solutions open the door to a world of savings: try the simulator.

The operational life depends on the aggressiveness of the aluminum alloy, the section cut, the temperature of the casting during cutting, and the amount of lubricating oil. Under standard operating conditions, the knives are estimated to guarantee 2 million cycles before requiring replacement or resharpening.

The Breaker 2.0 press-side shear is a compact pneumo-hydraulic solution that does not require a complex external hydraulic unit. It only requires micro fog oil for internal mechanism lubrication, making hydraulic maintenance minimal and confined.
