A robot is not enough
Too often I see foundries where just one robot takes pieces from the press giving them to the operator.
Maybe, in your opinion everything looks perfect.
The operator checks the pieces, the spurs and maybe he shears them off.
GUARANTEE OF SUPER QUALITY!!!!

But, THERE IS A BIG PROBLEM!

You are killing your profits. I imagine your gain such as a poor man dying and dipping into the grave.

And you stay at the pole, watching. Stay there and lose money.

A ROBOT IS NOT ENOUGH!

A modern die casting unit must produce parts without the need of an operator.
It has to be completely automated.
The operator should check occasionally the production and at most put the pieces onto the pallet.
The cycle time must depend only by casting parameters, not according to operator’s timing to produce the pieces.

THE FUTURE (AND THE PRESENT) IS THE INTEGRATED PROCESS!

No longer do as it once was, you cannot think only cast pieces.
So often I heard: “the important thing is to manage the pieces, then we will see the rest.”
Today I tell you: “IT IS ASSUMED THAT YOU’RE ABEL TO MANAGE THE PIECES, BUT THE REST IS THAT GIVES YOU THE GAIN!
The die casting unit you should have, has to:

  • Extract the piece from the press
  • Check integrity
  • Share off the scraps
  • Cut the casting
  • Deburr it definitely
  • Do the finishing

If you can do this, you start earning money:

  • You reduce the lead time
  • You reduce the handcraft costs
  • You reduce logistics
  • You reduce human mistakes

This means you have a gold mine in front of you press and you do not know you own it.
