If you do the wrong things it will never work

If you do the wrong things I twill never work.
But if you really want me getting angry, let me talk to a purchasing department that wants me to make the machine as they want treat the piece.

Usually the strutting man of the negotiations, must compare the price.

So all competitors have to propose the same thing, otherwise what do you compare?

BUT THERE IS A PROBLEM!!!

If you do that you kill your company!

To make a deburring machine, specific needs are required.

We need to know how to do it.

Do not just take a robot and 2 commercial tools!

You must have a thorough know how.
You need to know how to do and have the products (experience does it).
So the reality is that there is no incredible competition.

The purchasing department compares 2 or 3 competitors at most, perhaps with diametrically opposed solutions.

What is happening?

Sometimes behind the purchasing department there are trained technicians. The technicians ask, evaluate and find strengths and weaknesses of the various proposals.

Other times, the purchasing department imposes itself, and wants everyone to propose the same thing.

This is the exact moment when I greet everyone and thank them for the opportunity they have given me. I collect my things and go back home.

IT DOES NOT EXIST! I DO NOT BUILD A THING WHAT I KNOW IT WON’T WORK!

To produce machines there are always difficulties even when we think everything will be all right… try to imagine when I already know it will not work!

WHY SHOULDN’T IT WORK?

Because there are essential rules that can not be broken.

When designing a machine, do not think about deburring a piece.

We must think that I twill have to deburr many days and nights and that there will be no operator trained to make it work.

Everyone is able to deburr just one good piece.

THE REAL PROBLEM IS THE CONTINUITY!

The problem is to achieve a stable and reliable work cycle.

If we start from this assumption, to make a machine we need to know the process and the limits of each tool that can be used.

IF YOU KNOW THESE THINGS THEN IT WILL BE EASY!

Once you have identified the tools, the units to be used and the cycle diagram, then everything becomes simple!
But if you make a mistake…. then it’s a dram!

Just an example.
To remove a burr generated by a coring manually, use a 50 diam. abrasive disk
the average duration is 50 pieces.
The manual cycle time is 120 sec.
If you automate the process, and you do the same thing as the manual process.
Your cycle time can bring it to 60 sec.
Do you know how long the abrasive disks will last?
Not more than 20 pieces

WHY?

Because the abrasive one heats up, the adhesive caves inan in no time it does not work anymore.

How do you solve it?

You have to change the type of material, move from a disk to a belt….you have to use a unit with an active compensation system and do a certain work cycle.
This works!

But certainly, it is a different machine from the one that other propose.

You have to line up things to do and think of a stable cycle.

Without starting technical speech and thinking only of the piece, you hurt yourself.
